About Francesca Rome-Marie

Francesca Rome-Marie is a passionate and dedicated healthcare professional living in Rome, Italy.  Francesca’s professional focus lies at the intersection of health and identity, believing strongly that an individual’s whole self must be considered for successful care.

A dually board certified psychiatric and family nurse practitioner with a Masters in Disaster Management from Copenhagen University, Francesca Rome-Marie has studied and trained globally at institutions from Johns Hopkins University to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Throughout her career, Francesca has developed a particular passion for working in areas affecting the health and rights of underserved and marginalized communities. Her focus on gender and LGBTQIA+ equality – includes approaching her work relating to refugees and forced displacement with mindfulness toward gender, sexuality, gender-based violence, and reproductive rights.

She knows that honoring people’s innate dignity and sovereignty to make decisions about their own bodies is paramount when it comes to building respect and equality. This respect and equality are necessary for whole-body health.

Because of this, Francesca is especially interested in work that allows her to promote the visibility – and accompanying access to care, research, and program implementation – of LGBTQIA+ individuals, women and girls, sex workers, and those whose identities transect multiple groups.

From years of experience working in healthcare, Francesca Rome-Marie is skilled at providing aid and care in high-stress situations. Through her work, she is experienced in crisis counselling, risk reduction, disaster relief, and humanitarian aid – offering lifesaving resources to those in need.

Francesca is experienced working within nonprofit organizations, humanitarian activism, and community health initiatives. Through this work with diverse populations, she has become skilled in interpersonal communication, collaborative problem solving, and cross-cultural communication in Italian, English, and French.

Much like her educational background, Francesca’s professional ethos is a mixture of practice-based competencies, in-depth scientific knowledge, and hands on experiences. This dedication to maintaining a holistic and comprehensive understanding of her field leads Francesca to utilize strategic approaches to achieve the best results for her patients and populations being served.
